A client called us today after receiving a reminder from HMRC to submit a return for the tax year end 5th April 2018 by the deadline date of 31st January 2019 despite submitting her return in July.
Thankfully for the client, Avanti handle her tax returns and could not only confirm on the spot that her submission had been done, but also provided her with the applicable reference.
We also then called HMRC to double check, and followed up with our client – query solved within 5 minutes of the call.
If you receive a reminder from the revenue;
- don’t ignore it
- treat it with caution as there are some very good scam letters doing the rounds.
- call us,we’ll check, confirm and back it up with applicable references for your records – giving you peace of mind.
HMRC confirm that these letters have been issued in error to some self assessment taxpayers- this will not be a convenient excuse to be late submitting your return though, late submission will still attract penalties.
If you still need help with your tax return for the last tax year or you have received a reminder that concerns you, give us a call (08000) 388 799 for proactive friendly advice.
Remember, Avanti clients returns are submitted ON LINE.ON TIME.NO FINE*
*Subject to receiving all applicable information in good time for the deadline.
