In a series of announcements today (17th December) including the planned staggered return of secondary schools following Christmas, and the introduction of Tier 3 restrictions, Rishi Sunak announced that the furlough scheme will be extended to the 30th April 2021 for workers in all UK Nations.
Employers will again be able to claim up to 80% of worker’s salaries up to a maximum of £2,500 per month, but they will have to meet the cost of NI payments and pension contributions.
We expect to hear of further support measures in the Chancellors Budget, scheduled for 3rd March 2021.
